Hope for Financial Inclusion
The President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability has assigned a subcommittee to focus on community empowerment. The new Subcommittee on the Underserved and Community Empowerment will be chaired by John Hope Bryant, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Operation HOPE (HOPE). Headquartered in Los Angeles, Operation HOPE operates financial literacy programs in hundreds of communities around the world. Since its founding in 1992, Operation HOPE says it has directed more than $1 billion in economic value to underserved markets. The President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability was created by an Executive Order in 2010; it operates out of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Consisting of non-government experts from a variety of related fields (financial services, consumer protection, etc.), the Council advises the President and his cabinet on how best to help consumers understand financial matters and make informed decisions. |
